Fat Shaming...Really Lily Pulitzer?

As a  Plus Size Woman, I am highly upset about the Lily Pulitzer "Fat-Shaming" Employee Scandal.   Fat Shaming is lame and stupid. I believe in the old saying what is done in the dark shall come to light. This is not the first time this employee was obnoxious and rude.  This was, however, the first time they were called out of the darkness into the light. I think things like this shed light on the culture of the company.  As reported on CNN.com, The cartoons just happened to be captured during a time when Lily Pulitzer main office was taking pictures for New York Magazine.

"The fat-shaming cartoons were captured in one of the 27 photos posted."

"The illustrations were the work of one individual and were posted in her personal work area, Lilly Pulitzer (OXM)spokeswoman Jane Schoenborn said in a statement.
"While we are an employer that does encourage people to decorate their own space, we are a female-dominated company and these images do not reflect our values. We apologize for any harm this may have caused," she said."

This means these cartoons have been up for a while. Only after public outcry did Lily Pulitzer address the employee.  Based on the statement above, I can assume if the picture had not got caught on camera the body shaming picture would still be up. Why wasn't it an issue before now Lily?

Why do companies pretend to love us, FAT Folks? They make us feel good with pretty dresses in our size. They make us fall in love with them. The moment we turn our backs, they are laughing at how they played us, Fat Folks. I don't know about you, but I am tired of getting played. My money is too valuable to get into a dress made by a company that treats me like the Side Chic.

Am I the only one Looking at Lily Pulitzer with the side-eye?
