5 Ways to Thrive after a Break-Up

Recently, I had a conversation with a good friend of mine.  She joked about how she shed an extra 200lbs. She broke up with her man.  She stated she felt free like a bird, but she was a little concern about losing the momentum of her weight-loss journey.  After laughing for a few minutes on the phone about her ex we call “he who shall remain nameless,” we came up with a plan for her to keep moving forward on her journey.

5 ways to Thrive after a Break-Up

  • Embrace the Pain - It's important to realize that the breakup hurts your feelings; as well as, the other person hurts you.  The sooner you embrace the pain, the sooner you can get over it
  • Channel your anger into your workouts. While embracing the pain, use this energy towards something positive. Instead of eating ice cream, join a gym.  Start that kickboxing class you’ve thought about joining the gym.  Envision your ex’s head as a target practice.
  • Detox- Don’t talk about the break up with friends, don’t mention your ex’s name take time away from his family. Visit new spots listen to new songs.  Do anything that doesn’t remind you what you are going through.
  • Start a new Hobby, Start a new business, focus your time and energy on something positive and could turn a profit.
  • Release it - It is important to release the pain.  Unforgiveness only hurts you.  Your ex will have moved on with his life while you are still fuming, hurt and angry.  If you are like my friend, I know you want the upper hand over him. Remember the sweetest revenge is living a better life.  Forgive and Move one.
