Eating Healthy: My Struggles

I will be the first to admit. I love Big Mac’s, Popeye’s Chicken and Wendy’s Nuggets. I am sucka for happy hour at Sonics (Lemon-berry slushes are my favorite.) Eating like this does not help me tap into my inner skinny chic. It makes me hold on to the Phat Chic.  I struggle with eating healthy because I love those foods I just mention. They are my go to staple when I am hungry, sad and mad. They soothe my soul.  If you can’t tell by now I am emotional eater.  I eat because I am happy, sad, crying or in a good mood.  My other struggle is living with people who are not ready to make the journey to a healthier lifestyle with me.  They want to go out to eat to Longhorn’s, Red Lobster & Zaxby’s. It is hard to resist temptation with cheese biscuits smelling so good.  It is hard to say no when everyone around you is saying yes.  I understand why people say it is better to be on the healthy lifestyle journey with someone.  I am quickly learning it is easier for them to convert me than me to convert them. (I will not give up trying)  In the mist of my struggle, I have unlikely ally in my ex-boyfriend.  He is in the military. He has been encouraging me to keep at it.  He suggested I eat steam veggies during the week and save my meats for the weekend. He said he lost the extra 20lbs he was carrying around by adopting this lifestyle.  I have modified it. I eat veggies 3 days a week and I am down to eating turkey, chicken and fish.  So far I have shed 12lbs.  I know I can do better.  I need help in this area.  If any of you veterans health nuts have suggestions, let me know. I am determined to be successful on my journey.

It is never too late nor are you too heavy to start living a healthy life!  I’m loving  tapping into my inner skinny chic.

  1. Nothing like eating fresh vegetables... great job. I love fresh Basil with tomatoes and fresh Mozzarella cheese.
