THAT Chic: For the love of Thrift-ing

So it's me, the Thifty Chic, the Stylist Chic, the Silly chic, Natural Chic, the Eating Chic and then there is Mom and the WIFE…She is a HOT CHIC, lol. As you can see, I enjoy the multiple personalities within myself.  I am authentic, original, unique, exceptional, & distinctive. I am every woman it's all in me...Ok there I go again.  To sum it all up, I am simple THAT Chic

Just like many of you, I don’t make superstar money yet which means I am on a budget.  I have caviar taste but live on a tuna fish budget. I have a mad-hatter love affair with shopping.  In order to save money and make my marriage work, I quickly had to figure things out.   Being a Jersey Girl by way of San Diego, you know I had a master plan up sleeve. I figured I would learn and master the art of Thrifting! (AHA!!! Who doesn't want to save money and still be fly) Thus begins the adventure of my fashion savings was born.

GOODWILL!!! My word, if you ever want to be FLY, hit this place first.  You can find name brand & classic items for the low low. My personal deals are Gucci jeans for $6.96 and Jessica Simpson shoes for $5.95. I even found a Coach purse for $2.92, I mean I gave it to the 6yr old of mine, but Ba-bee has a COACH PURSE!!!! Speaking of children, are they out growing their clothes faster than you can bring home the bacon? Do they love name brands such as Hollister, American Eagle, Justice, and Polo.  All children’s clothing is $2.92, including jackets!!! I can dress my Fab Children for pennies on the dollar, and which makes me Happy!

Listen: just like anything else you must put yourself on a budget. I don’t want any husbands, boyfriends, or significant others commenting on here saying, “my boo is out hand with this thrifting! She is spending more money than going to regular store” I am telling you now STAY on budget, if not thirfting could become worse than your local Neiman Marcus. Neither you nor your honey boo boo wants that.

Let’s Talk Thrift-Store Etiquette. For the purpose of this post, I am going to stick with my Goodwill Theme.   When you walk into the store make sure you smile, walk around, speak, wave, get friendly because this will help you in the long run. Next, you want to pay attention to the “color tag of the day”.  This is where you get the best deal. “The color tag of the day” means 50% off the regular price which is already superbly low. On Sunday, the color changes, ok here is what this means…Monday thru Saturday, there is a color of the day, that color is 50% off the prices I gave you earlier, I always hit the accessories first, earring’s regular price $3.93, half off "IF THEY ARE THE COLOR OF THE DAY…then on Sunday the color changes, YOU have a jump on the New Stuff!! It is thifty store MADDNESS!!!

I found during the week is the best time to shop, although a little look over the weekend doesn't hurt...You remember all the waving, smiling, making nice I told you about earlier? Here is when it comes in handy. The employees become your "friends".  When they see you coming and understand your style, they will hold things to the side for you!!  What, what!!  It is good to build these relationships so you can have first dibs on the good stuff.  I have a girl who will text me when the "Good stuff" comes in! Boom.

Well I must go now; I just got a text from my “friend”.  Goodwill just got some new stuff in. I gotta go check it out.

Until Next Time… Happy Thrifting
