LIFE Lesson from a Twisted Minded Christian…

Last night, I went to Sushi night with my Foodie group.  It was about 10 women from diverse backgrounds coming together to enjoy each other company over food.  The concept was fantastic.  Sushi was great by the way. I am now a fan of the Heart Attack (fried sushi) and Philly Cheese steak rolls (smoked salmon and cream cheese yummy!) I only knew one or two ladies, but after the dinner and great conversation, I feel like I left the group with more friends. One of my goals for the last two years has been to be more diverse in my friendships. Wow, who knew this could happen over Food!!!! I learned last night friendship can cross color and class barriers.  Goofiness and Sense of Humor is a state of mind. I am glad to have met someone who sees the world like me with unicorns, rainbows, and naked men…

I’m writing this because I needed my eyes and my spirit to be open. I had been closed off to new people for so long that I hadn’t realized what I was missing.  It is amazing the things God can show & teach you when you are open to him. I believe God wants our lives to be truly diverse in all areas and not just in name only. I think diversity is the key to truly understanding God and the love he has for us.  God loves us all and no one group has a monopoly on him.

I know we have just finished our first month in the year and now into our second month. If you haven’t made 2013 goals, there is still time to do so. 2013 is the year to Re-invent you (I borrowed this from Christina Murray from The Sisterhood). It is time to do those things you always wanted to do it is time to Carpe Diem Sine Metu-to Seize the Day without Fear!!! If you want to meet new people join a group with people as the same interest as you, buy a bike, or reconnect to old friends. Buy a new dress, try a new shade of lipstick, pinterest a new outfit, and go hiking! Just do something. Don’t Let 2013 be like the years past where you say you are going to make changes and you don’t.  Start off small, because small things can turn into big things.  I put off diversifying my circle of friends for two years, and I have absolutely no earthly idea why I did. Now, I am super glad to have joined the ChowDown Foodies. I joined to eat good food, but I have gained new friends.

Until next time…

Be Blessed, Be Extraordinary
