All About Dad: Family Memories
By Julian S. Stone, I
In the past year, we
have all been reminded as to how short and precious our lives are in this
world; from the Military members serving near and far, Aurora, Newtown, Boston
and the recent events in New Orleans. Our heart and prayers are with the
families that have lost loved ones, as we shall not forget the disgust and
senselessness acts of those that seek to harm others for whatever their
ill-fated motives are.
I began to really think
on things I would want vs. need for a Father’s Day gift. The wants: $50 iTunes card, Scuba diving gear
or books, pair of running shoes, more Phi Beta Sigma paraphernalia, PS3 video
games, 3D/Blu ray movie combo packs or some other electronic gadgets. My needs
were not really obvious. As I sat in my hotel room, in Mechanicsburg,
Pennsylvania (attending a training class), I pondered the question, “What do I
really need?” While I tabled the thought and checked my email the answer was
flashing before my eyes. VACATION!!! After VacationsToGo.com, Delta, Cheaptickets,
Disney, Southwest click ‘n save, Hilton Honors, Priority Club Rewards and Best Buy reward zone had filled my inbox with emails from the many companies I
have done business with in the past, my desire to hang out with my family became greater. Upon reflecting on the aforementioned troubles in the United States, as the hotel TV
stayed on the current events unfolding about Boston the thought of creating
memories with family became more prevalent on my mind. I knew I had to forward these emails to my wife so she could catch the hint, "Daddy wanted go on Vacation"
My need to be with
family and set some memories into motion, before my untimely passing, is now
priority for me. Vacations will allow my family to reflect on the fun times and
places we traveled to together in the event of my passing. Family vacation rang
clearly, as the “need” I was looking for. I am not suggestion that you blow
your savings on a trip to memorialize “dad” before he goes, (not that I plan on
dying any time soon) I am suggesting you
look for these deals which will allow you to be frugal yet enjoy yourself with
family and the #1 guy in your life. Now realizing Father’s Day is a few weeks away
and may lend little time to go away for that week-end, there is still time to prepare,
a card with the travel voucher for the weeks following. I am sure it will be a great Father’s Day present none the less. (I am sure looking forward to opening my card with my vaction planned) Good
luck, take lots of pictures and happy traveling to you all.
