I had to write about this because I have so many people ask me questions about my natural hair....I heart my AFRO...I love the versatility of natural hair...I AIN"T Never going back to the creamy crack...I am not trying to convert people over to Team Natural. If you like to get relaxers more power to you. It is your $$$ and you pay the bills in your house! This for my people who want to join Team Natural...
Transitioning...I will not write a long post on this. The Internet is flooded with information on this topic... Here is my take on transitioning... Unless you are going to BC(Big Chop), wear braids,or weaves Don't start in the summer time. It is hot!!!! (Especially in the South) If you are like me, my scalp is the first place I start sweating with the one lone sweat bead that sweat trickles down my face. You will be mad because you have two different hair textures (relax and natural) on your hair. You will not be able rock the cute natural hairstyles you see everyone wearing until you cut the relax hair off. Anger and Frustration will set in and you will give in and revert back to the relaxer...Trust me I have seen it too many times...Most of friends who started transitioning in the summer went back to the creamy crack before the Fourth of July!! I tell people all the time it is easier to process during the fall and winter months and go ask your hairstylist to help you transition. It is a much easier and pleasant process...The people who took my advice on this enjoyed there process into the Natural world and have been enjoying the natural experience of 3 years or more... I myself have been natural for 6 years...
