PHATSkinny Chic's Principles to Healthy Living:
Recently I
have hit a milestone in my journey. Up
onto this point I have shed 42 lbs from my 5’4 frame. This milestone is exhilarating and scary at
the same time. It is exciting because I am the little train who has momentum
and movement. I am chugging along. I am
afraid because I am venturing into unknown territory. I have never been this
way before. While I have been reflecting
on my milestone, I realize for the past year I've learned to live by certain
principles. Weight-loss is more than
counting calories and exercising. It is about becoming spiritually grounded,
emotionally mature, and forgiveness
Forgiveness
has been the cornerstone of my weight-loss. When I begin this journey, I never
realized how much un-forgiveness I was holding on too and it was showing up in
my weight. When I started forgiving
people and especially myself, my weight began to drop off. I had to learn how to push through the
setbacks and press forward. Like my
favorite bible verse says “I have to
forget the things behind and press toward the mark.” Part of my forgetting process was to
forgive. Funny I never knew how hand in
hand those two things go together.
Forgiveness and Forgetting equals true freedom.
As you
embark on the second month of your journey, open your spirit to the idea of
forgiving. Keep track of the feeling of
release when you forgive someone. Write in a journal every time you forgive
yourself for falling off the bandwagon.
At the end of this month, reflect back on those moments and assets where
you are now in your journey and how it has helped you on this weight loss
journey.
