What is the name of my business and how does it work?
Twice the Spice Events, Wedding and Event Planning
I am also the Founder and Operator of, Finding Your "We" Spot, a Blog guide to Relationships and Weddings with my friend and Co-Founder Constance Murchison.
At Twice the Spice Events, we are making wedding dreams come true. We provide brides with the best service by offering two planners, a Wedding Planner and Logistics Planner, a personable experience with all of the fixings, and an affordable rate! Brides come to us with an idea of their dream wedding but with no way of knowing how to achieve it! We are the beginning of the rest of their lives with their soul mates. We offer our Relationship and Family Coaching to help couples along the way.
While our Wedding Business
is the beginning of their new life, our Finding
Your "We" Spot blog is the guide to help them get to the starting
line of their new life. We are educating women who are either in relationships or
single how to discover their safe place in a relationship. We are enlightening
them on what's practical, acceptable, and safe. The great thing about our blog
is that we celebrate Love by posting Real Couples and Real Weddings as a real
picture of Finding Your "We" Spot.
What was your Aha moment?
My aha moment happened when I began public speaking. I began speaking about and becoming an advocate for Domestic Violence and Sexual assault in college. That allowed me to share my own stories, release my own sufferings, and help others. I have impacted hundreds of men and women this way. The responses I received were unbelievable and pushed me to find both my happy and wealthy place in love, life, finances, and more!
What advice would you give for overcoming mistakes?
There are many things I can say but my best advice is to trust the process! For the most part, we each experience the same process of anger, hurt, then regret. Mistakes can be difficult to overcome but the truth is it can only hurt as bad and long as we allow it. The most difficult and painful part is forgiving ourselves for not knowing or doing better yet it is the most critical and impacting. I don't encourage rushing towards forgiveness but I do encourage trusting yourself in knowing that everything that you do is in good faith. The process is certainly painful but it's absolutely necessary for personal growth and getting to your happy place.
How do you find Work Life Balance?

How do you find Work Life Balance?
Oh boy! Balancing
all of my roles and responsibilities can be admittedly challenging. There are
definitely days that I want to crash but I keep pressing forward by reminding
myself of the goal. I have found that creating a daily priority list then
execute it accordingly helps me balance effectively. I have to set firm
boundaries with myself which means my off days belong to my family completely
and office hours for my business have to be enforced. This is hard for sure
because I'm a go-getter and my goals are constantly on my mind. I try not to
get too upset when my husband taps me on my shoulder and tells me to switch
gears. I have tremendous of support from my husband, mother, and business
partners in both businesses! My friends always have my back and will tell me to
close the email, log off, and relax. It took some time to find this balance but
I've learned that asking for help is a must!
Do you have any recommended reading?
A really good friend of mine gave me a book that has been the most educating and encouraging. She gave it to me at a time when I needed it and was ready to receive all of the blessings within it. Deal With It by Paula White and Spiritual Lessons for My Sisters: How to Get Over the Drama and Live Your Best Life by Natasha Munson.
What woman in History has inspired you the most?
Maya Angelou is one of my greatest sources of inspiration. She impacted me initially when I was an Alpha Kappa Alpha Debutante in high school. I was asked to perform a skit and dance incorporating her famous Phenomenal Woman poem. Performing the poem changed my view on how I felt about myself. In high school, I struggle with self esteem issues. It was her poem which encouraged me to see myself as a Phenomenal Woman. Her body of work has been impactful and her message is notable to.
